James Patrick McMahon

15 August 2023

James Patrick McMahon of Boca Raton, Florida, a Middletown native and a regular summer resident of Yankee Lake, died unexpectedly at Garnet Health Medical Center on 15 August 2023. He was 83.

The son of John and Catherine McMahon, Jim was a retired public relations executive for AT&T Telecommunications. He graduated from SUNY University at Binghamton, and took additional courses at Syracuse University.

His love of books and reading served him well as a student of Irish History, and Ireland was among the 40-plus countries the McMahons visited during their retirement travels. Fishing and golf competed with photography for his spare time, but his love of pets attracted him to volunteer at the community animal shelter in Boca Raton.

Mr. McMahon was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Roberta; his son, James, both of Boca Raton; and a brother, John, of Middletown, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Frances Marson of Goshen, who died in 1987.

Services for Mr. McMahon will be private and at the convenience of the family.
