In Memoriam

We mourn the loss of our friends, neighbors and relatives who have passed. Our memories of life at the Lake are entertwined with our memories of those who shared their lives with us here.

Dr. Ann Angela Ribolini

22 July 1948 – 1 February 2020

Dr. Ann Angela Ribolini passed away Saturday, 1 February, after battling cancer for nearly a year.

A resident of Yankee Lake, New York, Ann was born 22 July 1948 to Augusto and Elena Ribolini in Yonkers. Both parents, as well as her siblings Egisto (Sonny), Augustine, and Elena, predeceased her. Ann is survived by her two children, Maralena Murphy (E. Meadow) of Tucson, Arizona and Lennon Murphy (R. Termine) of Boston, Massachusetts, her beloved granddaughter, Lyra Murphy, her sisters, Diana Tabone and Elizabeth Zambuto, and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Ann earned her Bachelor’s and PhD degrees from Stony Brook University on full scholarship. At Harvard University, she did her post doctorate research in recombinant DNA and held a science professorship. From there she moved first to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to work as a researcher, and then to BioGen where she researched fruit fly DNA and took a position with her family in Switzerland. Upon her return, she founded the Copper Beech Montessori School, in Boston, where she spent over 25 years educating children. In retirement, Ann moved to Yankee Lake, where she could enjoy nature and be near family.

Ann was loving, kind, and generous to all she met, and was especially proud of her children and granddaughter. She was an avid reader, especially of J.R.R. Tolkien novels; she even knew some Elvish! Her last travel abroad, with her children, to Italy, was one of the highlights of her life.

Her radiant spirit will be remembered always.

Celebration of Life services will be held both in Boston and in New York. Please contact ObscureMemorialEmail for more information.
